BIA Code of Ethics & Standards

1.    Behaviour

BIA members shall conduct themself in a manner consistent with the good reputation of the BIA and refrain from any conduct which might bring the BIA into disrepute.

2.               Integrity & Objectivity

BIA members shall be at all times exhibit the highest level of integrity in the performance of their professional duties. They must be fair and not allow prejudice or bias to interfere with their objectivity.

3.               Conflict of Interest

BIA members shall be free of any conflict of interest which might be regarded as being incompatible with their integrity and objectivity. They will not engage in any illegal or unethical conduct.

4.               Competence

BIA members are expected to maintain an appropriate level of professional competence throughout their career by undertaking the attendance of seminars, workshops and training courses. A BIA member shall only undertake work which they can expect to complete with professional competence.

5.               Technical Standards

BIA members shall carry out professional work in accordance with the technical and professional standards relevant to that work.

6.               Confidentiality

BIA members will respect the confidentiality of client information acquired in the course of their work. In accordance with privacy laws they will not reveal any confidential information obtained during a professional engagement without proper authorization or unless there is a legal or professional duty to so disclose such information.
